Starting October 1, 2025, the Florida sales tax on commercial rental payments will be fully repealed.
🔹 This means no more state or local sales tax on:
– Office space
– Retail stores
– Warehouses
– Self-storage units
– License fees for kiosks, salon chairs, etc.
⚠️ Important to Note:
• Rent attributable to periods before Oct. 1, 2025 is still taxable, even if paid later.
• Short-term residential rentals, parking/storage for vehicles, and equipment rentals remain taxable.
• Landlords must continue filing sales tax returns through September 2025.
👉 What this means for you:
• Tenants may see reduced occupancy costs.
• Landlords should review leases, update billing systems, and plan for their final tax return.
• If you accidentally charge tax for periods after Oct. 1, 2025, refunds must be issued to tenants.
💡 Our team is here to guide you through this transition and ensure your business is compliant. Contact us with any questions or to review how this change affects your leases.
