Starting October 1, 2025, the Florida sales tax on commercial rental payments will be fully repealed.
πΉ This means no more state or local sales tax on:
β Office space
β Retail stores
β Warehouses
β Self-storage units
β License fees for kiosks, salon chairs, etc.
β οΈ Important to Note:
β’ Rent attributable to periods before Oct. 1, 2025 is still taxable, even if paid later.
β’ Short-term residential rentals, parking/storage for vehicles, and equipment rentals remain taxable.
β’ Landlords must continue filing sales tax returns through September 2025.
π What this means for you:
β’ Tenants may see reduced occupancy costs.
β’ Landlords should review leases, update billing systems, and plan for their final tax return.
β’ If you accidentally charge tax for periods after Oct. 1, 2025, refunds must be issued to tenants.
π‘ Our team is here to guide you through this transition and ensure your business is compliant. Contact us with any questions or to review how this change affects your leases.
